John Mohler is the Chapter Treasurer, handling chapter finances, bank account, and membership applications.
John Mohler enlisted in the Army in late 1963 and attended Basic Training at Fort Dix, Artillery School at Fort Sill, Advanced Infantry and Airborne Schools at Fort Benning, German and Russian School at the Defense Language Institute. He then served with the 25th Infantry Division in Viet Nam for multiple tours of duty during the period of August 1965-December 1970, where he was nominated for a Field Commission in 1970. After recuperation from injuries, and at the age of 29, he then attended Airborne School a second time to re-qualify for jump status in 1972, followed by attendance at the Special Forces Qualification Course in 1973. John subsequently served with the 7th, 11th and 12th Special Forces Groups. He subsequently retired from the Army reserve in 1988 after 25 years of active, National Guard and Army Reserve service.
John has worked in the Aerospace Sector for several major defense related firms, to include Boeing, Deutsche Aerospace, Messerschmitt, General Electric Aerospace, General Dynamics, Booz Allen & Hamilton, and Lockheed Martin. He is currently a consultant with the Nemacolin Business Group, providing Turnaround and Improvement consulting for small to medium-sized businesses, and non-profit organizations. He also leads the initiative “In The Company of Great People” that shares the stories and amazing talents of Great People with whom we have all served.
John is married with two sons and 6 grandchildren.
Gene Russell is the Chapter Chaplain, responsible for contacting and visiting chapter members in hospital or at home. He leads the outreach to visiting Wounded Warriors in the Greater Washington D.C. area.
Gene, was commissioned in 1961 and following his commission he graduated from the Infantry Officers' Basic Course, Airborne School. After an assignment with the 5th Division, where he was a Platoon Leader, Weapons Platoon Leader and Infantry Company Commander, he graduated from the SF Qualification Course at Fort Bragg North Carolina in 1964. He was assigned to the 7th Group and then served in the 5th Group in 1965-66. He served on B-22 and took command of A-224 from fellow Chapter member Linc German. Following Vietnam, Gene taught Infantry/Special Forces operations at Fort Sill and on a ROTC assignment. He also served an exchange tour with the British Army and in 1980 took Command of the 3d Bn 7th Special Forces in Panama. During the 2.5 years in command, the battalion deployed elements to support the El Salvadorian Counterinsurgency, and various CT/CD activities in Latin American. He returned to the States and held SF assignments on the Army Staff and ran the action to form the 3d BN 75th Rangers and the Regimental Headquarters. Later he served on the Joint Staff in the Joint Special Operations Agency and was the head of the Task Force that implemented the Congressional Legislation that formed the U.S. Special Operations Command. He retired in 1987. Following his military career, Gene worked in Special Operations, CT, CD activities as a contractor and supported the Department of Veterans Affairs up-grade their HR technologies. As a consultant he continued in these areas and in the area of the IED threat. He is currently the Executive Director of the National War College and he and his lovely wife are very active in supporting our Wounded Warriors and their families. Gene graduated from The Ohio State University, received his master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh and is a graduate of the National War College.
Gene is married to Sharon and they have two daughters and two granddaughters.

Charles Was an original member of Special Forces, a founding member of Chapter XI. Went from Private in 1944 to Colonel in 1973. Served at all levels of Special Forces, ending as Commander of the 7th SFG and then Deputy Commander of the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center.
Charles Retired in 1981 and returned to McLean with his wife, Virginia.
